AZERBAIJANI OIL HAMPERS KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT

Azerbaijani opposition Democratic Party leader Sardar Jalaloghlu differs from his compatriots with his approach to hold peaceful negotiations with the Armenian part and to find a fair solution of the conflict.

Answering to the questions of “A1+”, Sardar Jalaloglu prioritized the two countries, which are conflicting with the US, to establish favorable relations with the US and to commence negations through the US. “The US yearns to settle the Karabakh conflict soon, but at the same time the problem may not be solved without Russia. Even if Aliev obeys the pressure of the US, that allegedly has pro-Armenian position, Russia’s last word will be decisive”, said the Azerbaijani Democratic Party leader.

Sardar Jalaloghlu also prioritized the Georgia's "Rose Revolution" for Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Unfortunately, illegal and anti-democratic regime powers in our countries”, said Jalaloghlu pointing out the role of Russia in this matter which “frustrates regional peace, as well as regular social life in the countries, particularly with a number of military agreements with Armenia”.

Sardar Jalaloghlu did not major in the details as to how military agreements frustrate the processes of social life in the countries, and whether the military agreements between Turkey and Azerbaijan have the same impact on the region.

The Azerbaijani political actor presented the most vital point of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement – the factor of Azerbaijani oil. He is confirmed that until the American businessmen owe their oil industry, Artsakh will never become a legal state. “The Azerbaijani part of the Caspian Sea is a capital for the States, and with the oil of the Caspian Sea we will be able to maintain democracy and give a justice solution to the Karabakh conflict”, said the Azerbaijani politician.

Besides the oil, he also underlined the importance of upcoming presidential elections in Armenia and Azerbaijan. “If Levon Ter-Petrosyan becomes the president we will have the opportunity to negotiate on Karabakh issue peacefully, but in my opinion, Serge Sargsyan will become the RA President”.
