COMMENTS ON FIRST PRESIDENT’S SPEECH

Politics

“Kocharyan’s respond to Ter-Petrosyan’s speech reminds a childish argument”, said politician Aghasy Enokyan to “A1+”, commenting on Robert Kocharyan’s announcement regarding Ter-Petrosyan’s speech. He noticed that Ter-Petrosyan did not mention names in his speech and gave political assessments to the situation, independence, war and victory. Aghasy Enokyan noticed “boyishness” in Kocharyan’s speech. “I am so sorry that Kocharyan wants to continue the fight on that level”.

Politician Alexander Iskandaryan, who is confirmed that Ter-Petrosyan will not run for presidency and has announced about it for many times and has not changed his opinion today: “I do not think that I am mistaken and I do not consider that Ter-Petrosyan’s speech means that he will run for presidency. Moreover, I do not think that the possibility will exceed 50 percent. The fact that he is an experienced political actor and doesn’t say casual things is true, but I am not confirmed that he will run for presidency coming out of his speech”.

As to the first president’s speech “that is a speech of a different format. He could not accuse somebody of something after 10 years of silence that is way his speech had a different character. As he mentioned the country was developing in the wrong way. That was the estimation of a person who followed for many years, that was the speech of a political philosopher. Kocharyan’s respond was the respond of a political actor and not a political philosopher. However, both approaches are correct”.

Alexander Isakandaryan considers that “there was nothing bad or insulting in Kocharyan’s speech. That was the speech of a person who will officiate for some months and who will not be nominated during the upcoming presidential elections and will not be elected”.

Armen Ashotyan, an NA deputy representing the “Republican Party of Armenia” evaded from comments. “One should pretend on future president’s post to be able to comment on the statements of the first and the second presidents. It will be better if the third president commented on the first and second presidents’ statements”.

Mesrop Movsesyan, head of the “A1+” TV Channel was astonished by Robert Kocharyan’s speech. “That was not a president’s speech. It is more like the speech of an offended kindergarten child. Kocharyan shouldn’t reflect on the past, the society remembers not only 1996, but also 1993-94 triumphs, “splendid” elections in 1998 and 1999. The society has not forgotten 2003 and 2004 and other years, however hard some people try to distort the past”, said Mesrop Movsesyan. “It is easy to blame others; it is easy to present the developments, already overcome in our country, as the results of his achievements. I welcome the speech of the first president, in which he expressed his concern about the today’s situation and the nation’s problems. I hope that we will witness the solidarity of healthy powers”, said Mesrop Movsesyan.
