ARSENYAN WILL SUPPORT LIBERALS
Support A1+!The candidate, whom the “United Labour Party” will support, will become the RA president in 2008. “I will go on insisting on that thesis”, announced the head of the “United Labour Party” Gurgen Arsenyan.
Arsenyan did not give any information about the candidate, he advised the journalists to be patient and wait a little.
The “United Labour Party” will publish its decisions when, the candidates are nominated and after studying their programs. But the party has decided that it will give its preference to a liberal program that will be focused on carrying out educational and demographic reforms. “One thing I can say for sure, we will not support any socialist program. This is our position. It is not excluded that we may not have active participation in the program that we will support, but as RA citizens we are obliged to take part in its implementation. However, we would like to have direct participation in it”, said Gurgen Arsenyan. He reminded that his party supported Serge Sargsyan as Andranik Margarya’s candidate after the latter’s death in spring. “The “United Labour Party” also confirmed the program of the Government’s activities presented on 5 May”, added Arsenyan.
If the party does not participate with its candidate during 2008 presidential elections, then during the community elections that are to follow presidential elections, the “United Labour Party” will nominate its candidates and will try to increase its influence towards that end.
As to the party's failure during 12 May NA elections, Arsenyan noted that it did not disappoint them and the party intended to participate in 2012 NA elections with the same staff.
