MALKHASYAN DID NOT REPENT

“Vardan Malkhasyan’s statements at the court on 13 July were incorrectly quoted by the mass media, - announced Mushegh Shushyan, Malkahsayn’s defender,- Malkhasyan did not repent for his statement, he just expressed regret for the preliminary investigation body’s deception”. We remind you that during the last hearing Malkhasyan, a member of “Native Land and Honor” party, announced: “I will make stricter speeches, than I made at the conference of the Union of Armenian volunteers”. Then he added:

“I regret that our nation could not elect the authorities and respect them, since the leaders were unfair”. “These words prove that he did not repent”, said Armen Aghasyan, political secretary of “Protection of liberated territories” initiative. Malkhasyan’s defender said that on 10 December the preliminary investigation body convinced him to give evidence threatening that other members of the Union of Armenian volunteers would be detained. “The preliminary investigation body understood that Malkhasyan would not give evidence by force and deceived him”, said Mushegh Shushanyan.

Reflecting on Sefilyan’s trial, Vahe Grigoryan, Sefilyan’s defender, noted that the young man was sentenced for keeping an illegal weapon, but his case was terminated since he took part in the Artsakh war. Though documents notifying that Sefilyan was awarded a weapon were presented and, according to Vahe Grigoryan, “the Court tries to refute them”.

“An official from the RA Defense Ministry wrote that Zhirayr’s weapon belonged to the Ministry and was to be returned after the service, - said Sefilyan’s defender,- But he did not serve at the Defense Ministry. This is done so that no one would be responsible for Zhirayr’s arrest”. Ara Zakaryan, Sefilyan’s defender, said that the Court did not allow them to present a petition. “The defending party has the right to present petitions during the hearings, but our case was an exception”, said Ara Zakaryan.

“OUR WISH TO CHANGE THE AUTHORITIES IS BOUNDLESS” Armen Aghayan, political secretary of the “Protection of Liberated Territories” initiative announced today: “Our wish to change the authorities is boundless, but it is definite that we may not change them by force. We’ll take productive measures to do that”. When we asked which those measures were, Armen Aghayan said: “To change them with the help of the nation. It is not occasional that Sefilyan’s trial lasted till the end of the elections. The authorities knew that Zhirayr had already organized that process”.

Reflecting on Galust Sahakyan’s announcement that Sefilyan should be considered a hero, Aghayan said: “Drivers of mini buses should not decide who to make a hero”.
