The RA President Robert Kocharyan received the Ago Group, Council of Europe Committee of Ministers Monitoring Delegation headed by Per Sjögren, the Swedish Ambassador to the Council of Europe. Ambassadors from Austria, France, Germany, Russia and Latvia and other officials from the Secretariat of the CoE Committee of Ministers were among the delegation.

The parties highlighted the regular visits of the Group to Armenia, noting that Armenia had passed an important way and registered a great reforming progress since the country’s access to the Council of Europe.

Robert Kocharyan ensured that amendments in all fields were implemented with the deep belief that we needed them first of all and that the country did not have any other way of development. “Armenia is not reach in natural resources, and human resource is the main factor for us, which may be displayed only by productive, profound and expanded amendments”, underlined the President.

The parties reflected on the current stage of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution process and on the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in St. Petersburg.

They also exchanged viewpoints on the results of parliamentary elections, on the assessments of international observers and on the preparation of upcoming presidential elections. The members of the Ago Group also prioritized the amendments to the Electoral Code and electoral procedures.

The parties talked about the issues referring to the freedom of mass media. The CoE ambassadors reflected on the draft law “On TV and Radio” proposed by the Government.
