KOCHARIAN WAS IN HIGH SPIRITS

Politics

The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan made no announcements on their meeting in Saint-Petersburg. Instead, the foreign ministers of the two countries under question made assessments on the meeting.

Although no tangible progress had been made we shall do our utmost to keep peace in the region, regional peace, Azeri FM Elmar Mammadyarov said in Saint-Petersburg.

The sides presented their stance on the negotiations and reflected on the main principles to preserve long-lasting peace in the region, Mammadyarov said.

“Though the sides haven’t come to an agreement we shall proceed with the talks over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution,” Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian said.

The Co-Chairs voiced hope that the presidents would come to an agreement on the main issues but their hopes were not justified.

“The FMs of the two countries will continue cooperation trying to pave a way for the presidents' next meeting,” Minister Oskanian said.

It is due to mention that Kocharian was the first to arrive at the venue. He warmly greeted the presentees, Armenian and Azeri journalists. Ilham Aliev was in dismal mood: he didn’t even notice Azeri journalists,” Armenian TV Channel H1 announced.
