ARAM KARAPETYAN: “OPPOSITION MAY UNITE AT THE SECOND ROUND”

Aram Karapetyan, the leader of the New Times Party and Ruben Torosyan, the head of the Supreme Council Deputy Club met with mass media representatives on May 30.

The Supreme Council submitted a list of alleged law breakers during the NA election. The list involves the names of the RoA President, the leaders of the Republican Party of Armenia, the ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the United Labour Party, E. Avetisyan, S. Tadevosyan, V. Lalayan, G. Karakhanyan, G. Hakobyan, R. Nersisyan, judges of Kentron and Nork-Marash communities, K. Balayan, H. Danielyan, F. Tokhoyan, V. Hovhannisyan, Z. Ghukasyan, H. Nazaryan, R. Papayan, judges of the Constitutional Court, Grigor Amalyan, the Chairman of the National Commission on Television and Radio, Alexan Harutyunyan, the Chairman of Council of Public TV & Radio, Aghvan Hovsepyan, the RoA Prosecutor General and Election Observation Mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The Supreme Council also presented the direct authors of election frauds, Robert Kocharian, Serge Sargsyan, seven CEC members, eleven TV Channels, ministers and deputies.

The New Times Party together with the Supreme Council appealed to the Constitutional Court against the outcome of the May 12 parliamentary election and claims for a new voting. They submitted an application of 230 pages and 2.1 kg with the Constitutional Court. The appeal will be heard on June 1.

Aram Karapetyan thinks almost everyone is dissatisfied with the outcome of the election. Only the Republican Party is satisfied. “There was evident election fraud and abuse. If the Constitutional Court is unbiased, the result of the voting should be declared invalid.” Aram Karapetyan informed that about 400 thousand votes were tampered.

The NTP leader is sure the facts they have are grounded and the CC will consider the election results.

Aram Karapetyan is convinced that the 2008 presidential elections will comprise of two rounds. During the second round real oppositional forces will unite and put up a joint candidate.
