WHO BENEFITS FROM WIRETAPPING?
Support A1+!“Criminal circles don't announce moratorium for their actions during the elections. There is no evidence that the recent assassinations are due to the upcoming parliamentary elections,” Tigran Torosyan, the Deputy Chairperson of the Republican Party, and the NA Speaker, announced at the National Press Club on May 2.
Concerning the eavesdropping of Arthur Baghdasaryan's conversation with a foreign diplomat which is qualified as high treason, Tigran Torosyan commented, “Such a phenomenon is incoherent to democratic countries. It is easy to check it. Journalists' questions defaming other party leaders are unacceptable for me,” Tigran Torosyan said.
Reporters asked the NA Speaker if it is accepted in democratic countries to wiretap diplomats' conversations, Tigran Torosyan said. “In democratic countries eavesdropping is performed in this way. Firstly, the law enforcement bodies should operate in accordance with the law. In this sense, as far as I know, nobody has aroused any argument that the Armenian law enforcement bodies did it. Secondly, sophisticated technologies allow favourable conditions for eavesdropping,” says Mr Torosyan.
Tigran Torosyan thinks that the above-mentioned is not that exaggeration as it is presented. “Strange though it may seem, nobody applied to the law enforcement bodies to find out the circumstances. To find out the answer it is important to ask a question who benefits from this. Maybe those who need scandals during this election?
