March 2 is notable for the Hovannisians’ family; today they are celebrating the golden anniversary of Richard and Varditer Hovannisians, Raffi Hovannisian’s parents. “My family inspired me boundless love towards the country, firm belief and loyalty without any preconditions”, Raffi Hovannisian said in his opening speech.
Fifteen years ago on this day the flag of Armenia was hosted over New York. The Armenian flag is not a formality. It embodies the strength and unity of a whole nation. We want to see Armenia as a country of law, unity, nationalism and statehood.”
Mr. Hovannisian expressed his regret while speaking of the oppositional forces’ failure to unite. The founder of the “Heritage” Party explained his decision not to run for the parliament under the majority system by the centralization of the party’s resources.
Today, two party members, Armen Martirosyan and Mkhitar Amirkhanyan, were chosen to submit the party’s interests and control the CEC activity.
Larisa Alaverdyan also made a speech. “It is a great honour for me to appear in the proportional list of the party. I deem the protection of human rights which lies in the basis of the party number one priority . The anti-constitutional way, our country heads today, is destructive.”
