But once you visit any of this establishments you will be convinced that the announcements are but formal. Over 70 – 80 percent of the people making stakes are juveniles who are enticed by two factors; easy way of earning money and gambling.
They frequently lose but even the defeat cannot stop them.
17-year-old Gevorg tells that it is already four years he has been making stakes. He always leaves the office of “Euro-football” empty-handed.
“I don’t even remember the date when I last won; it was long ago”, says Gevorg. “But I no longer care for it. I have become a kind of stake-addicted person and I am unable to do anything on this score, it is beyond my will”.
The average sum put on the stake by juveniles is 5000 AMD. It is quite logical that they cannot earn the sum themselves a day. The “conscientious” employees of the bookmakers’ offices help them in this respect. The permanent customers have privileges; in case they lose they can pay back the debt in two days.
To pay back the sum, the juveniles pawn their cellar phones, gold rings, chains and necklaces. If they are already deprived of the above-mentioned things, they ask their friends for help.
Many parents are unaware of their sons’ “occupation” and they get astonished why the money and gold of their houses disappear in the course of time.
Those who are already aware of their sons’ tenderness, are unable to prevent them and expect that their children will “come to themselves” one day.
