ELECTORAL CODE DISCUSSED AGAIN
Support A1+!During the discussions of the RA Electoral Code in the Parliament head of the United Labor Party faction Gourgen Arsenyan announced that we will see the vitality of the amendments to the Electoral Code after the elections. Arsenyan finds it important that the people must be sure that they have formed the authorities themselves, be they good or bad.
“National Unity” announced they will not participate in the voting of the draft amendments to the Electoral Code. The National Unity is for the amendments as their suggestions have been taken into account, but they are against the draft as there is no provision about 100% proportional system.
Alexan Karapetyan offers to eliminate the majority system as “it creates good ground for corruption and intimidating”.
“The majority system is favorable for Robert Kocharyan as he needs illegally elected deputies who will obey him, and become a scapegoat in case of need, like Hakob Hakobyan”, announced Alexan Karapetyan.
According to Heghine Bisharyan from the OYP, 90% of the offers of the party has been adopted, and the other 10 will probably be adopted soon. “No one is naïve enough to believe that the elections can be fully free and fair, but people must have a sense of proportion when it comes to fabrications”, she said without clarifying if the OYP will vote for the amendments or against them.
As for the ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the party is for the amendments to the Electoral Code. Hrayr Karapetyan thinks that everything has been done in order not to leave space for fabrications. He reminded the EC appendix which stipulates criminal punishment for electoral fabrications.
