THE LEVEL OF THE AMBASSADORS IS RATHER LOW

The third conference «Armenia-Diaspora» was concluded, but no one wants to recall that the works towards establishing business relations with the Diaspora were started by the previous authorities. Former RA Prime Minister, former Defense Minister and leader of the National Democratic Union Vazgen Manoukyan reminded about it in «Mirror» club today.

By the way, he noted that after he resigned from the post of Prime Minister the process was halted. But still, he thinks that today the potential of the Diaspora is not used effectively.

«Only 2-10% of the potential of the Diaspora is used. There are people who are not aware of Armenia, or have a wrong imagination about Armenia», said NA deputy Khachatour Suqiasyan who participated in the conference.

He noted that those present participated in it without any clear-cut program, without any suggestions. “All of them had the same indifferent expression on their faces; there were people who did not even know why they were here. I think they had just come to have a rest as September is a good month to be here”.

By the way, Khachatour Suqiasyan thinks that the level of the Ambassadors is rather low. He said that even the structure which is authorized to engage in those affairs (RA Foreign Ministry) does not do its work properly. “There are no regulated relations. I think in this connection the level of the Ambassadors is rather low as they do not work seriously”.

Leader of the NDU Vazgen Manoukyan agreed with him on the assessment of the conference. He added that the authorities only speak about a well-organized state; the reality they only engage in earning money. “In order to get financial aid from the Diaspora the country must be non-corrupted. The Armenians of the Diaspora will not send their last penny to Armenia without knowing the fate of the money”.
