“EVERYTHING SHOULDN’T BE BASED ON OFFENCE”
Support A1+!“Azerbaijan thinks that all the possible measures of the conflict peaceful settlement are not exhausted yet. When they are all exhausted there will be an urgent need to seek new methods for conflict settlement and I think it is not wise and in due place to interpret these words that a new war will be launched,” said Asaf Hajiev in today’s press release after the BSEC session while referring to the announcement of Azeri delegate Musa Gulieyev made during the briefing with journalists the previous day when he claimed that in case the Karabakh conflict is not settled in the coming 1 – 2 years, a war will break out.
RA NA Speaker Tigran Torosyan noted, “We know what a war is. In my opinion no one seriously thinks such matters may be settled via wars.
We are members of the international community. There isn’t any international organization which will urge that war is a good chance to solve conflicts or other matters. On the contrary, they have all announced many times and still announce that there is no other alternative but peaceful settlement. Thus, I assume that if anyone speaks of a war his words pursue the aim of preaching.”
He voiced hope that there will never be a war between Armenia and Azerbaijan and that all sides remember their “lessons” gained from the Karabakh war. There is a lack of economic cooperation between the two countries because of the war.
“There is a conflict and we must think of the ways to settle it. When it is already settled I am convinced that there will be peace in both countries in question. We shall have peace one day as there is no other alternative. I think that further on we shall have joint projects as well. First of all conflicts must be settled,” claimed Asaf Hajiyev. In his opinion everything shouldn’t be based on offence. “Journalist and parliament deputies are to have their share and contribution in the matter so that the dialogue of the two presidents will have a positive outcome. Both Armenians and Azeri deserve peace” he said.
