ARA ABRAHAMYAN HASN’T MADE A DECISION ABOUT PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS

“I don’t see anything positive in the fact that a party can be dissolved within a day. This is a State system but it is upon them to decide. We need time to give evaluation of the situation.

Of course it was their decision but the question whether they were right or not in their decision will be revealed in the course of time,” announced chairman of the Armenian World Congress and president of the Armenians’ Union in Russia Ara Abrahamyan at the same time expressing his negative opinion on the current events of “Orinats Yerkir” Party. He claims that he is eager to find out what really happened in the home policy of the country.

Ara Abrahamyan thinks that it is still early to speak about their participation in the 2007 parliamentary elections adding that the possibility of their participation is not excluded.

“Can we merely keep aside from the elections, neither assist nor show our concern if there are more than half million Armenians living in Russia?” says Ara Abrahamyan. The latter also claims that they often meet with the leaders of various parties and the representatives of officialdom on this score.

In his opinion the degree and form of participation will be decided by the Armenians’ Union of Russia taking into consideration the opinions of both Armenian and Russian citizens of the union as well as the RA legislation.

”We want to improve the conditions in Armenia so that people would be able to return to their homeland,” urged Ara Abrahamyan.

Let us mention that the session of the Armenian World Congress Council was convened today in Yerevan. The key issue of the session will be the discussion of the works of the establishment within the current 2 years and its further tasks. “It is essential to set up an establishment which will enable us to introduce a national program with joint efforts. By that I mean the ideology of the Armenians. This is one of the important fields,” claims Ara Abrahamyan.
