THE NKR DOESN’T REVEAL ITS STAKES BEFORE NEGOTIATIONS
Support A1+!Before the Kocharyan - Aliev meeting in Rambouillet the NKR President Arkadi Ghukasyan said he didn’t have great expectations from the meeting. The OSCE co-chairs are also concerned with the inefficiency of the two Presidents’ meetings. The OSCE Minsk group French co-chair Bernard Fassier recently stated this fact in Yerevan.
“The co-chairs always mention that the conflict cannot be regulated without compromises. Being the NKR President can you say what the Karabakh residents understand by saying a compromise and whether they are ready for it?”
“I don’t think it will be wise to reveal our stakes just before the negotiations. We shall open them only on the negotiation table. Our compromises are determined by the Azeri compromises. A compromise means that the two sides in question are to make mutual concessions. There are not unilateral compromises.”
“Does the NKR fully trust the negotiating procedure to the RA?”
“When you look from aside you think you could have done more, but this is a subjective approach. We have no security bases. We think that the RA authorities do their best in the negotiation procedure but we consider that the participation of the NKR will make the procedure more efficient, and the international society will accept many issues easier.”
This is a statement from the NKR President Arkadi Ghukasyan’s interview given to “A1+.” The whole interview will be published in “Ayb - Fe” weekly tomorrow.
