THE AGREEMENT “THE MILLENNIUM CHALLENGE” SIGNED
Support A1+!On March 27 in the hall “Benjamin Franklin” of the USA State Secretary premises the RA Minister of the Finance and Economy Vardan Khachatrian and the Executive Director of the Cooperation “The Millennium Challenge” John Danilovich signed the agreement “The Millennium Challenge” of the RA for the period of five years’ realization at the cost of 236.5million USD.
The USA State Secretary Condoleezza Rise made an opening speech. The members of the RA delegation – the Chief Counsellor of the RA President on economic issues Vahram Nersisyants, the RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan, the Ambassador of the RA to the USA Tatul Margaryan and other officials took part in the ceremony.
The ceremony program is aimed at the curtailment of the rural poverty by means of providing stable growth of the agricultural product. The program foresees that the direct receivers of the investments will be 750 thousand inhabitants of the RA or the 75% of the rural population. The rural property is expected to be reduced by 6% at the end of the program implementation.
The money will be spent in the following way; 67.1 million USD will be given for the implementation program of the rural roads restoration, 145.67 million USD – for the agricultural irrigation program (including 32.42 million USD for the component of the agricultural stability), 5.08 million USD – for the monitoring and assessment and 17.19 million USD – for the program management and control.
