VOTE OF NO-CONFIDENCE TO ANAN

The trade union of the UN officials gave a vote of no-confidence to the US Secretary General Kofi Anan with an overwhelming majority of votes. The decision was made in answer to Anan’s initiative to reform the UN.

In particular, Anan had offered to transfer thousands of regular workers of the organization and make them not permanent. According to him, this decision would allow them to make the UN less bureaucratic, more flexible and more efficient.

According to the Radio station «Azatutyun», in any case Kofi Anan will not remain in duty long as his office lasts until December 31 of the current year.
