THE OMBUDSMAN WILL START FROM THE JOURNALISTS

“The majority did everything for me to return to the political level. I am in the Parliament, I have lost nothing, and I do not need anyone’s sympathy”, candidate for the post of the ombudsman Hrant Khachatryan told the journalists. “I consider my participation in the elections successful, and the failure - natural”, he added.

Hrant Khachatryan promised first to congratulate his opponent, and in case of need to help him. But he said he will refuse if he is offered a post in the Ombudsman’s office.

Armen Haroutyunyan informed the journalists that he is psychologically ready for the post. “I think first I must meet the first Ombudsman, get acquainted with the materials and learn if there are things left unfinished”, he announced. As for whether he will read the annual report of the first Ombudsman or not, he said, “I will read it first, then we shall see”.

Is Armen Haroutyunyan ready to protect the people from those officials who elected him? Asked this question by the journalist the Ombudsman answered, “First I do not know who voted for me, and second, I announced that if the deputies elect me with the hope of making me their puppet they had better not vote for me. I think I said enough”.

And if the President violates the people's rights, Armen Haroutyunyan will not be afraid to protect these people, he promised. He gave another promised too: to protect the people concerning ALL the problems, including the Buzand case. But he mentioned that he will start his activity from the protection of the rights of the journalists.
