THE KURDS WARN ABOUT THEIR DECISIVENESS

“Long Live our Leader Apo”, the hall of the Writers’ Union thundered from the applause of the Kurdish people. This day in 1999 the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ojalan was arrested, as they say, “kidnapped by the international conspiring organizations and sentenced to death”. At the demand of the Kurdish people the death sentence was changed into life imprisonment.

The Kurdish people connect all their wishes and desires with the liberation of their leader Apo. The poster “We condemn the international conspiracy against our leader” has become their motto. Gathering around this idea, about 40 million Kurds throughout the world organize marches of complaint, hunger strikes and self-arsons. “We are with you with soul and blood, Ojalan”, the Kurds living in Armenia claimed once more. The “Kurdistan Committee” with Charqaz Maroyan at the head announced in the Writers’ Union that “If something happens to Ojalan, they will be capable of everything”.
