MICHAEL DANE DOES NOT ENGAGE IN POLITICS?

Last week the Azeri Mass Media, in particular the electronic newspaper «RealniyAzerbaijan» spread information about the announcement of the World Tax Organization Secretary General Michael Dane. According to them, Dane said in a press conference in Baku that “Part of the Azeri territories has been conquered by another country and Azerbaijan can prevent the development of drug business in the area either diplomatically, or by war”.
According to the source, Michael Dane has mentioned that “the Azeri side has provided him with information about the production of drugs in the conquered lands”.
According to the RA Foreign Ministry Press service, the Armenian Embassy to Brussels has applied to the World Tax Organization Secretary General Michael Dane to comment on the above mentioned information.
In the answering letter to the Armenian Embassy the World Tax Organization has “distinctly refuted the announcements attributed to the Secretary General by the newspaper “RealniyAzerbaijan”. It is mentioned in the letter that during the press conference Michael Dane has been asked numerous question s about Nagorno Karabakh, but the Secretary General has stressed that the World Tax Organization is simply a technical body engaged in tax issues, and has nothing to do with political problems.
It is also mentioned in the letter that the World Tax Organization consists of 196 members and the Secretary General has never referred to the political situation in any country.
