“If one day we become so stupid as to give lands in return for a one-page document, we will deprive the civilized world of a whole culture”, the head of the Yerevan office of the Organization investigating Armenian architecture Samvel Karapetyan.

During the presentation of the book titled “The Liberated Lands of Armenia and the Artsakh Problem” he represented the Armenian monuments in Karabakh, as well as in the liberated lands which the Azeris and the Turks tried to destroy. There are 30 essays in the books which represent the geo-political importance of the liberated lands for Armenia and evaluate them in the context of strategic and regional security.

The authors also bring grounds for the Armenian origin of the liberated lands. The editor of the book Armen Ayvazyan accounted for the publication of the book by the information that Armenia and Azerbaijan are going to sign a one-page document.

The authors of the book, in particular Armen Ayvazyan, are sure that the negotiations of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict discuss the following principles: in the first phase of settlement the Armenian forces leave the liberated lands except Kelbajar, and international peace-keeping forces, including those from Azerbaijan enter the area. In the second phase the Kelbajar and Kashatakh areas are given under the control of international peace-keeping missions and populated by Azeris, alongside with Shushi. In 10-15 years in Artsakh and some regions of Azerbaijan a referendum is held which decides the fate of Artsakh.

Mr. Ayvazyan mentioned that this is in itself the phase variant which was denied by the Armenian side in 1997.
