The “Mirror” club invited the head of the United Communist Party Yuri Manoukyan and the head of the Ramkavar-Azatakan Party Haroutyun Araqelyan to a political debate.
During the one-hour meeting with the journalists the only disagreement of the opponents was about the raise of the prices of the Russian gas. Communist Manoukyan said that “the anti-Russian hysteria in Armenia is meaningless”, and Araqelyan claimed that the hysteria was unleashed by the Russian company “Gasprom” before the New Year party.
In all the other issues the opponents agreed with each other: both of them tried to praise their own party and the ideology. Comrade Manoukyan informed that their aim is to return socialism to Armenia and to keep Karabakh. “We will always support those who are for Karabakh”, he said explaining why in the 2003 Presidential elections they supported Kocharyan.
Then the opponents said that money is becoming a decisive factor in the Armenian political field, and at this rate the next Parliament will see only those who have much money. “In this case the parties can be finances by a not very friendly country, and please do not be surprised if tomorrow the NA adopts funny laws favorable for Georgia or Azerbaijan”.
And Yuri Manoukyan teased the members of the parties created without the ideological ground. According to him, they keep praising their leader and are not able to make simple decisions without him. Manoukyan called on the people to keep far from suchlike parties, and called on the Mass Media not to preach for them.
By the way, the opponents decided from the beginning to turn to each other as “Comrade”, as both parties have behaved the same way for decades.
