According to the head of the RA delegation to PACE Tigran Torosyan, the situation of the Azeri delegation was not enviable during the PACE January session, “For the last two years this was the first case of similar punishment”.
Let us remind you that because of the violations during the elections in Azerbaijan, the Azeri delegates faced the danger of being deprived of the right to vote in PACE until the May elections. After the discussions they were punished for three days. “It would be better to deprive them of the right until May, than to reduce the date to three days as a result of the discussions”, head of the RA delegation to PACE Tigran Torosyan announced during a press conference.
According to him, the visit of the Azeri Foreign Minister Mamedyarov contributed to this. Even the Azeri President asked the CE to cancel the punishment. Nevertheless, it was exercised.
TOROSYAN ELECTED DEPUTY HEAD OF THE MONITORING GROUP
Until now the Armenian delegation had three members in the monitoring group – Tigran Torosyan, Armen Rustamyan and Shavarsh Kocharyan. Now there are only two members. Instead, one of them – Tigran Torosyan, has been elected deputy head of the monitoring group. Tigran Torosyan mentioned that they will do everything for Stepan Demirchyan to become member of the monitoring group.
THE ISSUE OF THE COMMITMENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED IN OCTOBER 2006
“The next report about the honoring of commitments by Armenia will probably be heard during the PACE October session in 2006”, the NA deputy speaker Tigran Torosyan said. According to him, Armenia has honored the main commitments. The ones left are connected with legislative reforms as a result of the Constitutional amendments.
As for the commitment of the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict taken upon by the two countries, according to Mr. Torosyan, they issue cannot solved all at once, and the bureau will soon made a decision about prolonging the terms.
