THE PRICE OF GAS IS THE COST OF THE SUPPORT TO THE AUTHORITIES

“Every country has its interests”, announced the head of the National Renaissance party Albert Bazeyan speaking about the price of the Russian gas in the National Press Club.
He reminded that the country which has been independent for the last 15 years factually does not have a concept of security and the issues of power security have not been established because of which we have a problem today. Albert Bazeyan considers that when it comes to Russia. Armenia must try to follow a policy which won’t harm our sovereignty. He also did not exclude the possibility that the raise of the price of gas is the cost the authorities must pay for the support they have received. By the way, Albert Bazeyan also did not exclude the possibility that Armenia simple suffered because of Georgia and Ukraine.
As for the Russian military bases located in Armenia, according to Bazeyan it proceeds from the interests of both Armenia and Russia.
As for the Karabakh developments, Albert Bazeyan announced, «We are against one-sided compromise, if we speak about referendum in Karabakh or any other future process». He is convinced that in 2006 the Karabakh conflict will not be settled as he does not see ground for that. The head of the National Renaissance party is against the allocation of peace-keeping forces in Karabakh and thinks that they will disturb the balance of powers.
Speaking about inner political issues, Bazeyan did not exclude the possibility of forming alliance with any other party, but he mentioned that it is still early to speak about it. By the way, the party has already been officially registered.
