Support A1+!«It is no secret that the principle of territorial integrity is perceived more easily in the CE than that of the self-determination of nations», the head of the Armenian delegation to PACE Tigran Torosyan says. According to him, «Much work was needed to have several documents in the CE in 2006 which stated that the principle of the self-determination of nations must be applied in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict alongside with the principle of the territorial integrity. The second point was the Nagorno Karabakh can be separated from Azerbaijan by means of democratic discussions, in case of the support of the Karabakh people».
«This was really a unique achievement as we never received a suchlike statement from any international organization for the last 18 years. Only territorial integrity has been clearly mentioned», Mr. Torosyan says bringing the PACE 1416 resolution as an example.
Asked a question by «A1+» if it means that Armenia is in a favorable condition in this issue, the head of the RA delegation to PACE answered, «I think there have been important stipulations for Armenia. But I must underline once more that it was reached at the cost of fantastic work and overcoming many difficulties. On the other hand, no one can guarantee that this will be enough and we can have a rest».
