PACE RECOMMENDATIONS CARRIED OUT PARTLY
Support A1+!In the series of resolutions and in N 1405 (2004) in particular PACE noted that “expected change in national committee on television and radio staff on the basis of recent amendments in the law about «Radio and television» and that there would equitable conditions for giving broatcasting licenses to TV companies, and to «A1+» particularly.
Head of Armenian delegation in PACE Tigran Torosyan thinks that it's an important and right demand: “It's connected with improvement of law and I believe we have done everything possible regarding law in the framework of constitutional amendments”.
Constitutional amendments changed the order of appointment NCTR members but at the same time it's noted in the conclusive and transitional statutes of the Constitution that NCTR members will stay at their posts until the end of their authority. Doesn’t it mean that PACE will return to that question again?
«It’s possible from if constitutional amendments are reflected on the law and if they count up that the realization of the law early has drawbacks. To tell the truth I wouldn't like PACE to touch upon any drawback regarding Armenia. That would mean that problems in Armenia are already solved», Tigran Torosyan answered.
By the way, the latter thinks that there are TV companies acting in Armenia the quality of which substantially yields to those broadcast on “A1+” years ago. “I suppose everybody must be concerned about this. I’m sure this question has an exclusive meaning as electronic mass media is the most impressive. And not only as a business, though there are of course some elements of business, but information is the most important”, - Mr. Torosyan said.
The Vice-Speaker of RA Parliament thinks that the next resolution on Armenia’s obligations and commitments will be adopted in PACE in the autumn session this year.
