“DIRTY LINEN” – OUT OF ARMENIA
Support A1+!The Parliamentary opposition has started a process of creating an ad-hoc Parliamentary committee investigating the results of the Constitutional Referendum. “We will ask the next President now to swear on this Constitution before we do something”, representative of the Justice bloc to the Central Electoral Committee Felix Khachatryan said.
The opposition has almost finished to sum up the collection of signatures they have started to clear up how many people had in fact participated in the referendum. 3-4 electoral areas had been chosen for investigation. The members of the opposition visited the houses of the residents of the area and asked them if they had participated in the November 27 Constitutional Referendum. According to the information, of the 1906 registered electors in the Yerevan 7/03 electoral area 1564 did not participate in the referendum. All of them have certified the fact by signatures. Nevertheless, according to official information, 1360 people have voted in the above mentioned area. In another area – 7/04, 1367 of the registered 1932 electors did not vote; official protocols claim 1216 of them have voted.
Felix Khachatryan says he has numerous documents which testify to the violations and forgeries. They refer to seals kept in special bags, the use of enumerated ballots and many other violations.
As for why the opposition decided to raise the problem of the violations during the Constitutional referendum, they representatives of the opposition say they try to help the RA Prosecutor’s office which “revealed” only three cases of violations.
The opposition is also convinced that on January 23 the “dirty linen” of Armenia will be brought to the international stage without their fault. The new member of the PACE Armenian delegation Stepan Demirchyan is not going to make a special report about the violations. He will speak of it only in case of necessity.
