INSTITUTE OF PRECEDENT IN THE COURT SYSTEM OF ARMENIA
Support A1+!Today the RA Court of Cassation organized a discussion titled «The RA Court system after the Constitutional Referendum» together with the USAID. The discussion was presided over by the head of the Court of Cassation Hovhannes Manoukyan.
He told those present that after the adoption of the Constitutional amendments the court system will undergo serious changes. In particular, there will be two court instances – Court of the First Instance and the Court of Appeal. The third instance – the Court of Cassation, will be a structure making precedent decisions which will have a power of law and be precedent for other cases.
So, as a result of the adoption of the Constitutional amendments, the institute of precedent will be adopted in Armenia. The ex Court of Cassation will hear cases at its own choice and make decisions which will serve as precedent for making decisions in similar cases.
The structure will consist of about 10-20 judges.
