COURT PAYS NO ATTENTION TO VIOLATIONS

On October 12-16 the Public Committee controlling the legality of the referendum held a survey among 60 experts about the course of preparing for the Constitutional referendum.

83.3% of the participants of the survey find that the violations carried out during the preparing of the referendum will have an influence on the organization and the results of the referendum unless measures are taken to eliminate the results of the violations. Only 8.3% think that everything is realized according to the RA legislation. 80% find that «Yes» agitation is realized with violations, and 74.7% find that «No» agitation is not realized vie Mass Media.

Today the Committee rendered a press conference to announce their first conclusions about the results of the survey. Committee Coordinator Ruben Torosyan commented, «The law violations during the preliminary period of the referendum will have a serious influence on the results of the referendum. The authorities take no measures to prevent the violations and to eliminate their results. The main reasons of the violations are the support of the officers of several European structures, and the impunity of those who forged the 2003 referendum and 2005 elections of local governing bodies».

Ruben Torosyan mentioned that the courts do not accept the applications about the violations of law by the Referendum Central Committee. He also complained of the National Academy of Sciences for not allowing them to stick posters of “No” agitation to the walls of the building.

By the way, Ruben Torosyan claimed that no observer mission has been registered to participate in the referendum.
