HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

Politics

“Many of us perceive the Armenian genocide as a separate event, however it should be considered within the context of the world history and strategic developments of the epoch. We never tried to understand the causes of the Genocide.”

In his documentary titled “Armin Wagner – Photographer of Genocide” director Tigran Khzmalyan tried to present the causes and consequences of the Genocide basing on the letters, memoirs and photos of Genocide witness, Doctor Armin Wagner. All the facts presented in the film are indisputable and it would be unserious to question them. However, in Khzmalyan’s opinion, our political figures, who condemn the Genocide from rostrums do not exert any efforts to translate Wagner’s memoirs into Armenia and present them to the Armenian society.

“The World War I and World War II were the consequences of discrepancies between Germany and Britain. The cause for the discrepancies was oil. Germany was attempting to own the oil resources, Britain was troubling it. Armenians fell victims to this major conflict over a simple reason – Germans decided to use them as cheap man power. At the same time Turks, who lost estates in Europe, Asia and Africa rained anger upon Armenians,” Tigran Khzmalyan said.

It should be noted that Armenians had a strong and efficient army at that time. Besides, we had oil. Oil in Baku belonged to Mantashev, oil in Iraq belonged to Gulbekyan, who sold it later and became the owner of 5% of the world oil income.

The film shows that the world struggle for oil is not over yet and even after the Genocide Armenians failed to understand that.

To note, the film was shot with the financial assistance of Zaruhi Muradian and Mr. and Mrs. Chagarian, whom the film is dedicated to. As usual Tigran Khzmalyan first of all submitted the film to the judgment of journalists. Authorities will hear about it when the film will be awarded some international prize.

On November 11 Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan will depart for Tunis to receive an award for Tigran Khzmalyan’s “Aram Khachaturyan”, which was not nominated at Golden Apricot festival. It should be also noted that the Premier will head for Tunis without Tigran Khzmalyan.
