“WE DO NOT LOSE THE MOMENT”
Support A1+!The RA President’s visit to Brussels was followed by the visit of the EU Three to Armenia which was represented by the RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan as the result of the active work of the RA authorities. “The succession of visits might be a coincidence but it testifies to the fact that we do not lose the moment”, announced the Minister today during the press conference in the Foreign Ministry Hall.
The head of the delegation, Great Britain special representative to Southern Caucasus Brian Fall also participated in the press conference. He said that if the political course of Azerbaijan does not change after the Parliamentary elections, the unique chance to solve the Karabakh conflict will become fatter next year.
The Azeri authorities imprison and sue the activists of the opposition, numerous marches take place in Baku, and if the opposition manages to form majority in the Parliament, Ilham Aliev’s chair will start to shake.
We asked Brian Fall whether the European structures are afraid that Ilham Aliev who has agreed to compromise in the Karabakh conflict will be overthrown, or that the powers enjoying the sympathy of the people will not be able to form majority in the Parliament via democratic elections.
Brian Fall answered, “During the elections the people will not elect Ilham Aliev. I hope that Aliev will remain President and will continue to report progress in the negotiations with Kocharyan”.
As for the pre-election developments in Azerbaijan, the guest from Europe did not want to express his opinion saying that he has not visited the country yet. “If you ask me the question in Saturday, I will be able to answer as I will have already visited the country”, he said.
