WILL USA RECOGNIZE THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE?
Support A1+!The US Congress House of Representatives International Relations Standing Committee has decided to include two draft resolutions the aim of which is to recognize the Armenian Genocide into the Congress agenda with the majority of votes 40 to 7.
The first draft resolution was represented by the members of the pro-Armenian group of the Congress, representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties Radanovich, Knollenberg, Schiff and Pallone. The draft resolution urges the US President to take measures to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
The second draft resolution represented by Congressman Adam Schiff from Pasadena commemorates the Armenian Genocide and urges Turkey to acknowledge the role of the Ottoman Empire in those atrocities. The resolution also urges Turkey to go beyond recognition of the Genocide and reach a just resolution with the Armenian people. The Schiff resolution has 85 co-sponsors.
It is noteworthy that the Genocide draft Resolution was included into the US Congress House of Representatives agenda in October 2000 but it was excluded from they by the demand of the Clinton board of administration.
