FIRST OF ALL – GENOCIDE RECOGNITION

Politics

The commission of April 24 of the Armenian organizations of Netherlands sent in a petition to the Chairman of the Standing Commission for European Affairs of the Dutch parliament with the demand to include the Armenian Genocide recognition and opening of the Armenian-Turkish border in the EU-Turkey negotiation agenda.

The petition says that after the resolution adopted by the EU on December 17, 2004 on opening the negotiations with Turkey on October 3, 2005 Turkey still pursues the Genocide denial policy not only within the country but also in the European structures.

The petition also says that since establishment of normal relations with the neighbor states is one of the Copenhagen criteria Turkey should open the borders with Armenia till the start of the negotiations thus promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations with the republic.
