PACE PRESIDENT TO VISIT SOUTHERN CAUCASUS

Today at about 6:30 by Yerevan time the issue of including the discussion of the Constitutional reforms of Armenia into the PACE summer session agenda will be decided. Let us remind you that in order to include the issue into the agenda 2/3 of the deputies must vote for it.

The PACE summer session which will take place on June 20-24 will start today at 6:00 by Yerevan time. Among the important issues included into the Parliamentary Assembly agenda are the issue of Russia’s commitments taken upon in front of the EU, as well as the report about Mass Media and Terrorism to be made by Czech delegate Joseph Yarab.

In the report he calls the journalists to refrain from spreading cruel shots of terrorist acts. By the way, representative of the Armenian delegation, leader of the National Union Artashes Geghamyan has prepared a speech about this issue.

Among other issues of the PACE session agenda are the situation in Kosovo, the activity of the Azeri Democratic Institution and issues of the political prisoners. Before the opening of the session today at 2:00 by Yerevan time PACE President Rene van der Linden held a press conference in which he announced that in August he is going to visit Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
