E-PROCUREMENT DEVELOPMENT IN ARMENIA INEVITABLE

Politics

50 Armenian ministerial officials discussed with the foreign experts the development of electronic procurement in Armenia. The seminar was initiated by the RA Government and supported by the USAID.

The discussions focused at the possibility of state procurements at minimal expenses. In 2003 the government received a $50000 grant from the World bank for the development of electronic procurement. $20-25 thousand has been spent on the training of specialists and technical equipment so far, representative of the Ministry of Finance and Economy Karen Brutyan informed.

In his opinion, the development of the field is inevitable. “It is true that we have bad and expensive communication. But it does not mean that we should refuse from internet. I hope situation will change one day and the corruption risks will be maximally reduced”, he said.
