AFTER GEORGIA - AZERBAIJAN AND ARMENIA

Politics

“After the rose revolution our attention was focused at Georgia, but I should note that Armenia and Azerbaijan are equally significant for the EU”, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie told journalists today.

During the meeting the RA top officials and Mr. Talvitie focused discussions at three urgent issues, these being the RA-EU relations, Karabakh conflict settlement and Turkey’s bid for the EU. The EU Special Representative assured that the settlement of the Karabakh problem is very important issue for the EU. “Without Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue the OSCE Minsk Group cannot proceed to action. The European Union is highly interested in the development of the South Caucasus, however the Karabakh conflict impedes the process”, he said.

Heikki Talvitie called Armenia to work out a plan of cooperation with Turkey and added that the three Caucasian states were included in New Neighbors EU program thanks to the efforts of Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan.
