ARFD: SECURITY COUNCIL - VERY IMPORTANT STRUCTURE
Support A1+!As Armenia is situated in a rather problematic region both from the geographic and political viewpoint and it need the Security Council. This fact is realized by all the political forced of the RA.
The representatives of the ARFD are rather fundamental in regards to this issue. They have represented their proposals on the SC in 2001 and now while compiling the constitutional amendments within the coalition. However ARFD failed to insert the desirable amendments to the draft. “All the issues were discussed and we succeeded in coming to a common decision”, head of the ARFD parliamentary faction Levon Mkrtchyan said.
The President’s authorities are fixed in the coalition’s draft in the following way: “The President forms the SC is its chairman. He is empowered to form other consultative bodies”. This clause words by word cites the one represented in the draft of constitutional amendments by Robert Kocharyan in 2001.
Nevertheless ARFD hopes that they will still succeed in including its amendments to the coalition draft. As for the activities of today’s SC, the ARFD head hopes that after the adoption of the constitutional changes the activity of the body will be quite different. “We attach great importance to the body and consider that the sustainable, balanced activity of the Council is essential for the normal development of our country”.
The draft represented by the United Labor Party does not suggest any amendments on the SC. Actually they leave the clause of the acting Constitution as it is.
