FOR TOROSYAN NONE OF THE VARIANTS IS FULL
Support A1+!”I think this time the referendum of constitutional amendments will be successful”, said Tigran Torosyan, NA deputy president today in a round table organized by “Cooperation for open society”. He informed those present that NA will discuss the three draft constitutions. The further work will continue on the draft chosen as a result of the discussions.
”What is most important is that a well-processed draft be represented to the referendum anticipated at the end of June or at the beginning of July”, mentioned Tigran Torosyan.
Mr. Torosyan mentioned that the Venice Committee has often referred to the 2001 draft constitution which was on the whole estimated as good. He mentioned that it is technically impossible to put this draft to referendum, “We must represent a variant which is not inferior to the 2001 variant”.
By the way, the Venice Committee has mentioned in its conclusion that the UN draft is closer to the 2001 variant. Mr. Torosyan voiced hope that after the first reading they will work not on one draft in isolation but will put together the three variants.
