THE ARMENIAN CHURCHES TO BE RECONSTRUCTED THANKS TO FOREIGN SPONSORS

By this year's church-building program the Gyoumry St. Virgin Church, the building of the social center and the ex- officer house are supposed to be reconstructed. After reconstruction the latter will be under the support of Holy Echmiadzin and will be called House of Armenian children.

According to our colleagues from TV company «Tsayg», all the buildings will be reconstructed thanks to foreign sponsors.

The author of the financing for the reconstruction of the St. Virgin Church is from Argentina. The project works will soon finish after which the reconstruction will start.

It is worth mentioning that the church built in 1875-1882 has never been wholly reconstructed. In October of 1988 one of the cupolas was strengthened, and after the earthquake the small cupolas were reconstructed. Now the cupolas and the roof are meant to be reconstructed and works of inner reconstruction are to be done.

Let us also add that church reconstruction works are to be done in other communities of the region too, and again with the help of the Argentinean-Armenian sponsor. Harich church will be reconstructed together with additional buildings which will be used as schools.
