Night was 'calm' on Khorenatsi Street (video)
Standoff at an Armenian police station seized by gunmen early on Sunday enters the third day. A police cordon continues to keep reporters and citizens away from the police patrol service building which remains under the control of an armed group calling itself Sasna Dzrer (Daredevils of Sasoun). A small crowd stayed on the street at night. Some are grouped in the corner of the street discussing something, others are playing volleyball. Dozens of protesters, most of them young men, managed to reach the cordoned area in Erebuni at around midnight, after holding a public discussion at Liberty Square and a march through Yerevan streets. Avetik Iskhanyan, a prominent human rights activist in Armenia, civil activists Davit Sanasaryan and Maxim Sargsyan addressed the protesters. Iskhanyan demanded that law-enforcement bodies avoid retaking the seized police building and freeing the hostages.
