Agriculture Ministry again relies on God
Does the Ministry of Agriculture and the Minister himself rely on God and priests for having good harvest as the Minister said on one occasion? “When you start something important you always turn to God. I believe in God and I believe that all of you and it is not serious to speak about religion with irony,” Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan told reporters on September 9. He assured everyone that the year has been fruitful and rewarding for farmers in Armenia, with the exports of agricultural produce growing considerably in 2015. “We have procured 23.000 tons of vegetables and 11 800 tons of fruit this year which exceeds the figures of 2014,” he said. The Minister added that the high temperatures in August had left their mark on agricultural products. “The heat had a negative impact on vegetable crops, especially on tomatoes. But since we had a large number of crops we did not face a problem here.” Mr Karapetyan added that high yields of grapes are expected and processing companies are ready to purchase the whole produce. “Just payments will be made a bit later in March or April. Farmers are aware of this,” he said.
