Lawmaker: Let us not make a tragedy out of it

Still three years ago, Armenian lawmaker Gagik Jhangiryan applied to the National Assembly Speaker asking him to set up a commission to amend the Law on Social Security of Servicemen and their Family Members. The law is outdated and should be amended. What [Edmon] Marukyan is doing now, is only a slight detail,” Jhangiryan said today. The lawmaker urged everyone to vote for the bill as, he said, servicemen defending our borders should be granted privileges.  “Do you think it is a good thing to be on military duty? Parents are trying all possible means, even illegal methods, to save their sons from guarding the frontline,” he stressed.  “Every day, about 22 000 soldiers carry out military service on the frontline. You can hardly find a military unit which does not have servicemen guarding the border.  Therefore, let us not make a tragedy out of it and adopt the amendments to the law,” he said.
