Serzh Sargsyan receives World Organization of the Scout Movement delegation

Serzh Sargsyan received on Monday a delegation of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) led by Secretary General Scott Teare. The delegation also included members of the Scout Movement of Armenia and the World Scout Committee members who, are conduct in Armenia a meeting of the WOSM Eurasia Regional Scout Committee from May 6 to 11. Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the delegation and stressed WOSM’s important activities aimed educating a physically and spiritually healthy generation that would be bearers of the right values worthy of their state. He also underscored the scout mission and its activities. He also highlighted the NSMA’s close collaboration with the regional and international scout organizations, and the holding of respective pan-Armenian and international events. Serzh Sargsyan then dwelt on the Messengers of Peace project and stressed its importance for Armenia, which is seeking regional peace and stability. He also presented the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, he stressed that Armenia participates in different international and regional events in Azerbaijan, whereas Azerbaijan avoids participating in similar events in Armenia. Mr Sargsyan stressed that Armenia makes efforts at the state level to enable the self-expression of the country’s youth. The WOSM delegation thanked Armenia’s president for a warm reception and support to the scout movement in Armenia. They added that next October. Armenia is expected to host another major scout event, a regional conference.
