Candlelight vigil outside Armenian Embassy in Moscow for Avetisyan family
A candlelight vigil was held outside the Armenian Embassy in Moscow in memory of the Avetisyan family members killed brutally in their home in Gyumri cty earlier this month. Hundreds of people, including Russians and other nationalities, laid flowers near the Embassy, showing that they are grieving the death of the Avetisyan family members. The commemoration event was organized by the Union of Russian Armenians. Six-month-old Seryozha Avetisyan died in a Yerevan hospital on Monday one week after the six other members of his family were murdered in their home in Gyumri. Seryozha had been in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest on January 12 several hours after the massacre which is said to have been committed by a Russian soldier serving in Armenia’s second largest city. He underwent surgery in a Gyumri hospital and later was transported to Yerevan’s Surb Astvatsamayr hospital the next day. The baby died there on Monday.
