First US Ambassador to Armenia passes away at 77 (video)

The first US Ambassador to Armenia Harry J. Gilmore, VA, died of a heart attack on April 23, 2015. Gilmore retired in 1997 as a Foreign Service officer after a 35 year career in the United States Foreign Service. He was the first US Ambassador to Armenia (1993-1995) and served in Russia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Turkey and Germany. He also held a number of senior positions in Washington. Services will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at the Cherrydale United Methodist Church, 3701 Lorcum Lane, Arlington, VA. Burial will be in Pennsylvania at a later date.
